A tech stack detector that shows what any site is built with
Tech Stack Detector answers the question every developer, marketer and agency asks about a site they like: what is this built with? Click it on any website and a window opens with the technologies it found, where the site is hosted and how its certificate is set up. It is free and takes a few seconds.
Technologies
The detector recognises close to a hundred technologies, sorted by type: content management systems and website builders, JavaScript frameworks and libraries, CSS frameworks, e-commerce platforms, payment providers, analytics and tag managers, marketing and customer support tools, CDNs, web servers, font and icon services, error tracking and A/B testing. Each result links to the technology’s own website so you can learn more about it.
Hosting and SSL
- Hosting: the server’s IP addresses and the CDN in front of it, with a note when the addresses belong to the CDN rather than the real host.
- SSL: the certificate’s subject, who issued it, the protocol, and the dates it is valid between.
WordPress theme and plugin detector
When the site runs WordPress, an extra tab shows the theme with its name, version, author and preview, and the plugins it can detect, with details from the WordPress.org directory. It is one of the fastest ways to find the theme behind a WordPress site you admire.
More depth with Pro
DevToolkit Pro adds four more tabs to the same window:
- DNS: the domain’s A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS and TXT records, which show where email is handled and which services the domain is verified with.
- Security: a check of Content-Security-Policy, Strict-Transport-Security, X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy and Permissions-Policy, with a plain explanation of what each one protects against.
- Robots: the site’s robots.txt and the sitemap it points to, handy for a quick SEO check.
- Vitals: timings from your own visit, including time to first byte, first contentful paint, largest contentful paint, layout shift and full load time.
Share what you found
Export the findings as a PDF report to send to a client or your team. It is a tidy way to back up a recommendation, such as a platform change or a security fix.
Who uses it
- Agencies and freelancers sizing up a prospect’s site before a sales call.
- Developers learning how a site they admire is put together.
- Marketers and SEO teams checking which analytics, ad and marketing tools competitors use.
Tip: Open the DevToolkit popup and press T to detect the tech stack of the page you are on.

Tech Stack Detector questions
Is the Tech Stack Detector free?
Yes. Technologies, hosting, SSL, the WordPress tab and the PDF report are free. The DNS, Security, Robots and Vitals tabs come with DevToolkit Pro, a one-time payment from $25.
How does it detect technologies?
It looks for the traces each technology leaves, such as script files, JavaScript variables, HTML patterns, meta tags, cookies and response headers. Some tools hide their traces, so no detector can find everything.
Can it tell me which WordPress theme a site uses?
Yes. On WordPress sites it shows the theme's name, version, author and preview, and lists the plugins it can detect, with details from WordPress.org.
Does it send the site anywhere?
Detection runs in your browser. For WordPress sites it looks up the theme and plugins on WordPress.org, and the Pro DNS tab asks Cloudflare's public DNS service about the domain name. No page content is sent.
Are the speed numbers the same as PageSpeed Insights?
No. The Vitals tab measures your own visit, so it reflects your device and connection. It is useful for a quick feel; use field data tools for an official score.
